The Medieval Flail The Medieval Flail is not as varied as the Mace but it did have some interesting variations. The basic concept is a heavy weight that is attached to the end of a handle by a chain. When this is swung it generates enormous force - much more force than the Mace could deliver. It also had the added advantage of being able to reach over or around armor and shields. The flail was a weapon that did not actually see a lot of action among knights in the middle ages. This was because the sword was held in such high esteem and was the weapon of choice.
Here is an interesting Modern Fantasy creation. It is an unusual variation of a flail called the Lion Flail. Description:The Lion's Flail is a dangerous weapon of war. It's 40" long with great detail. The spiked chain links are latex while the handle and three spikes are hard plastic. Not intended for use by children. Use at your own risk. Look for the Lion's Shield (sold separately) to complete your costume. Lion's Flail
Decorative Single Ball Flail Medieval Mace Looking for an inexpensive yet good looking flail? This one is perfect. The spiked ball on the end of the chain is perfect. Not something to be used in combat just nice for display.
