A Greave is a piece of armor that protected the leg. Of course they usually came in pairs (one for each leg) and they were made of many different materials including cloth, leather, and iron.

They also varied quite a bit in their style and how much of the leg they covered. Some covered just the shins while others covered the tops of the feet and the knees.
